29

29 started with a day off, tubing down the Delaware.  We saw a fish with a hole in it, which is hard to explain if you didn't see it, but every other part was really pleasant and nice and relaxing.  On the way there, this:

At night, we went to Ray's Happy Birthday Bar, and people karaoke'd.  Everyone who sang gets +1 from me.  Here's Kamper, killin' Hey Jude.

Thanks for bdays, guys.

word play

Get it guys?

It's a bud vase.

There was a wedding on Saturday, which means that now there's just unending flowers and infinite delicious food.  It's all pretty nice.

cal 2k12

So, there's 16 of us working on another collaborative (international!) calendar project this year.  I've got more than half of the contributions(?) in, and they're looking good - it's going to be a nice collection again.  Some are pretty straightforward, some are a little more abstract.
Here's one of mine (a sneak peek, if you will).
Rats, as usual:

So, if you're involved, and you haven't gotten them in yet - get on it.  If you're not in on it, just imagine how awesome your life would be if you were.  You should get 15 friends who want to do a art project together.

1st contact

I've been dragging my feet when it comes to this kitchen.  New stove is coming, and there's no food anyway, so I haven't really been spending much time down there.

Last night though, I took a page from Kelly's book and contacted my kitchen cabinets.  Dungeon Kitchen II is not by any means glamorous now, but at least the disintegrating particle board is being held together.  With contact paper.  Which was a BREEZE by the way (except for the very last piece, and onlybecause I got ahead of myself, and because I didn't take the time to remove the cabinet doors before I started.)

Anyway.  Kitch before:
And, kitch after $6 and a half hour:
Overall, pretty doable.

groom

Two weeks ago, I took MLB for a haircut.  It's growing in a little, so it's not quite as extreme as it was at the beginning.
Okay.  So, I get it that this isn't everyone's idea of cute, and I do (kind of) see a resemblance to the Montauk Monster.

But he's quit shedding, and he's quit being hot.  He's super soft now, and just rolls around doing cute stuff.
If anyone is interested, I have a great cat groomer/shaver recommendation for you - Jocelyn at You Dirty Dog. I feel like it's the best money I've spent in a while*.

*speaking of spending money, I also bought a white rug.  Isn't that crazy?  Probably.   So far I like it though.  It's wool, and pretty cozy.  Been almost a week, and no major stains!  I want it to be evidence of my careful, tidier lifestyle.  We'll see.

pompomeranian

We went to Jomar* and I got FIFTEEN YARDS of pom-poms for $1.50.  Seriously.  Even if you don't know the pom-pom market, hopefully you can recognize what a sa-weet deal that is.
So: copycatting both Martha and Anthropologie, I pom-pommed my living room curtains.

It was so easy (my sewing machine not only survived the move, but seems to be working better than ever?  It's good to not have a basement to exile things to.  So far.) To be honest, I barely was able to not pom-pom every textile in my house.  For now though, just the LR curtain.

*get to Jomar in South Philly.  Everything upstairs is 50% off their already weird prices.

horse

Empty/full.

Here's a (/the only) closet.  The one I (unsuccessfully) tried to hang some shelves in.  Turns out, there's no space for shelves anyway.  Serendipitous and all, because it's just right for hanging clothes, not perfect for shelves at all.

There's something really nice about a whole empty house (and the possibilities), but it feels pretty great to actually unpack too.  Next up: everything else.

shelf life

I thought I was going to hang a bunch of heavy shelves.

It was both unsuccessful (as far as actually hanging the shelves), but also super successful (as far as working out something else).

Everything is moving.  Tiny House pics soon maybe, if I get my act together.

champs

not "Champs" the sports bar, but rather "you guys are champions (of moving)".

Big ups to everybody who helped me move (hopefully last time for a while?) and especially to the boys who got all my bedroom furniture up several flights of stairs that look like this:

See that?  That was, (and will be again) a full size boxspring.

Couple more things (including the handsomest cat) in the next few days, then I'll have everyone over for a huge rager (jk).

blood

Recently it's come to my attention that I don't know my blood type.

So, A and I shook on it, and I think you should virtually shake on it to, to THIS week find out what blood type you are.

Tomorrow I start my search.  You'll be glad if you get in some sort of tragic sitch and need my blood and we're a match!  (Or, more likely, I'll be glad, because realistically, I'm going to need the one who needs a transfusion.)

Anyway: let's find them out!  A challenge!  A mystery!
